RE: Fayetteville NC

Thanks to all, not military so I can’t use that one. Wal-Mart in Fayetteville is out of the question. Was really looking for an out of the way place on the north end of town for 2 night’s dry stealth camping. I guess we will be on the hunt when we get there.
Thanks again.
BTY 50's day, 30's night in December is warm:)

Jeez, it sounds as though you all think that your favorite spots belong to you or something. Really makes me wonder about the posters view of camping in general. Good thing Columbus did not have your attitude after comming to the new world!
Most on public land do belong to us (all); I am sure many wish Columbus did not "post" his findings!

RE: Taveling with new partner

I think it will work out for you; you will be warm and sunny in AZ. How could anyone not have fun? On the other hand I remember my younger days of cross country motorcycle riding and 2 companions that just knew they could handle it. They both ended up on the gray dog! Pick up a bus route map before you go, the dog stops in a lot of out of the way places.:B
BTY This reminds me of and old biker saying;
Complaining about your butt hurting is grounds for being left at a gas station!
Anyways, good luck on the trip and post up while gone.

RE: Tank capacities on Lance 03 model 1010

Ours is a 01 and perfect for us. We have stayed in it on extended trips for 21 days. Aluminum roof and filon sides on ours. No generator yet. Wet weight, loaded for bear, full water, full propane, full of beer, empty black and gray, 3800lbs. 33, 21 and 14 is correct. That can last us 3 or 4 days if I use the out house and weeds. The potty is Kristy’s except in pinch. Great unit we got ours for $9,500 in the early fall of 2007 from a dealer and it was like new. Good luck, it’s a great model.

RE: Truck stall on long downhill

I got a replacement from napa for my 99 psd in 2002 when the factory installed one went out. Its still in the truck 300,000 miles later. Never had a problem with anything from napa. The truck is over 420,000 now.

RE: East Coast camping?

DJ, we never make reservations except when we want to be in a "resort" location on a certain time frame. We have traveled The West and lived in the east. You are correct about population density, but this also means facility density also increases. Private land is a concern compared to the vast areas of public land available in the west and west coast states but the east has a very good state park system with exceptional facilities at very reasonable rates. There are also many opportunities for boon docking in the many national forests and on some special private owned but public available lands. In my area AEP Recreation Lands come to mind. This is a very large tract of land owned by American Electric Power Co. It was all strip mined in the early 1900's to about 1950's. Since the land has been reclaimed and is open to the public for free use. Search “AEP Recreation Lands" for info and down load a free life time permit. Also check out the tread where other TC's welcome overnight guest at there place. There are many in the east. You would be welcome to stay with us, you could get lost at our place. Search "Hocking Hills" We have a farm in this area and the photos you see in the area are just like our place. Pack up and get over here.

RE: Members welcoming fellow members

Kitchen builder,
I don’t intend to mock a valid concern you have. I have the same concerns too. I think most of the folks here (myself included) are not concerned about most that "visit". I also think most are reluctant to discuss their insurance policy on a public forum for fear of attracting the "camper" you fear would turn on your good deed.
Insurance is great and is a must have, even though needing it and having to use it still sucks.:(:M
Good luck with your visits and your insurance carrier.

RE: Air ride

The truck I’m looking at buying is a 2005 F 450 lariat CC 4X4. It has the pickup bed conversion and is set up for a 5'er. It has 26,000 miles on it now. If I don’t buy it I will let anyone that wants my research and the current owners # have it. I'm currently trying to get an oasis report on the truck.
Big Jim, the truck I am looking at has 4:88 gears as your does. I would have preferred 4:30. I know power is not an issue with your set up but how do you do on fuel? What RPM are you turning at 70 MPH?
Thanks
Rick

RE: Air ride

I have found the truck for sale, I don’t own it nor have I driven it with a TC. The current owner pulls a 5'er. I am in hopes of tapping the experience of someone with the system before I jump off into this truck.

Air ride

Does anyone on the forum have experience with the link air air ride system on ford f350, 450 or 550. I have found a F450 with this installed. How does this perform with a TC?
Thanks

huachuca, more info please!!
Ahab, we were at Asseteaque island last year, 1 other camper and a hand full of people. Our experience is that this weekend will only bring out locals if the weather/fishing is good.
